How to Convert Markdown to HTML
What This Tool Does
The Markdown to HTML Converter transforms Markdown source into clean, ready-to-use HTML markup. Paste your .md content or drop a file, and get semantic HTML with headings, lists, links, code blocks, tables, and emphasis correctly translated — plus automatic sanitization of dangerous content.
Why Sanitized Output Matters
Markdown allows raw HTML passthrough, which means a copied document can contain script tags or event handlers that inject unexpected behavior when rendered on your site. This converter runs the generated HTML through DOMPurify, the industry-standard sanitizer, stripping scripts, iframes, and inline event handlers while preserving legitimate formatting. The result is safe to embed in websites, emails, and CMS entries without inviting XSS vulnerabilities.
Supported Markdown Features
The converter supports the CommonMark core: headings (ATX style), bold and italic emphasis, inline code and fenced code blocks, ordered and unordered lists, blockquotes, horizontal rules, links and images, and automatic paragraph wrapping. Tables via GFM syntax and strikethrough are also handled.
How to Use
- Paste your Markdown into the input area or drop a .md file.
- Keep "Sanitize output: yes" unless you fully trust the source and need raw HTML passthrough.
- Click Convert. The HTML appears in the preview area.
- Copy the markup or download it as an .html file.
Common Use Cases
- Blog pipelines: convert authored Markdown into HTML fragments for static site generators that expect pre-built markup.
- Email templates: sanitize and convert before pasting into HTML email builders.
- Documentation: generate HTML snippets for knowledge bases that do not accept Markdown natively.
- CMS migration: bulk-convert legacy Markdown content into HTML for platforms without Markdown support.
Privacy and Limits
Conversion runs entirely in your browser — your content is never uploaded. Files up to 10MB are supported, which covers even the longest technical documentation. Very large documents may take a moment in the preview but conversion itself is near-instant.
❓ Perguntas frequentes
Is the output safe to embed on my website?
Yes, when sanitization is enabled (the default). The HTML is processed through DOMPurify which removes scripts, event handlers and other XSS vectors while keeping legitimate formatting.
Which Markdown features are supported?
CommonMark core features plus GFM tables and strikethrough: headings, emphasis, code blocks, lists, blockquotes, links, images, and horizontal rules.
Can I disable sanitization?
You can set "Sanitize output" to no, but only do this for content you fully control. Sanitization protects against script injection hidden in raw HTML within the Markdown.
Is my content uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using marked.js. Your documents never leave your device.
